New drone – DJI Mavic Phantom 4 Pro is here!

The Phantom 4 Pro from DJI offers a very stable platform from which to shoot photos and videos, up to 20MP and 4k at 60 frames per second, making action video look smooth and cinematic.

This drone will not be replacing the Mavic 2 Zoom.  The two drones compliment each other with a lot of common features, but also some important differences, such as the larger camera sensor on the P4 Pro, along with manual shutter and aperture settings not available on the Zoom.

Some of the features of the Phantom 4 Pro that will help me improve deliveries of the highest quality to my customers.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro
  • DJI Phantom 4 Pro features provides a number of benefits over most drone on the market.
  • DJI’s latest mission and control software – DJI Go 4.
  • Compatible with survey and photogrammetry software like DroneDeploy
  • 3-axis stabilized camera mount (gimbal).
  • 20 MP 1″ sensor with 10-bit color depth with interchangeable filters.
  • Wide aperture range from 2.8f to 11f provide flexibility to shoot in low light, and produce deep depth of field images.
  • 4k video at 60fps produces exceptionally smooth results.
  • Using GPS/GLONASS for precision flight (manual and autonomous).
  • 30min. average flight time.
  • Speeds exceeding 45 MPH for rapid deployment and subject tracking.
  • Exceptionally wide ISO range (12,800) providing excellent low-light performance.

The Phantom 4 Pro drone’s flight characteristics are comparable to the Mavic 2 Zoom, however the 50% higher weight and center of gravity do add some challenges when operating in smaller spaces.   Having the larger camera with interchangeable filters, provides additional capabilities when taking landscape, and establishing shots for Real Estate.  The manual shutter also provides a big benefit over the rolling (electronic) shutter of the Mavic 2 class drones, when it comes to construction site photography and photogrammetry work.

Watch in the coming weeks for photos and videos from the Phantom 4 Pro.
